How is it that you can upgrade OS to this Century, but unable to upgrade the DB?
Why running in totally uncertified combination?

Considering the price of DB versus the OS.. we're just a small company. The budget is not that big.

You can use XE edition which is free.

Hi - you do need to sort this out: I remember that you can't upgrade to 10g without XDB. If it isn't already installed, the upgrade process attempts (and, presumably, will fail) to install it. So unless you use export/import, you will never be able to upgrade.

I guess you do not have a support contract, so you are on tour own?

Perhaps some XDB objects already exist. You can remove XDV with the catnoqm.sql script, I would try that and then install again.

My advice: do not upgrade the current database, export your application schemas, create a new database, import.

If you do not have a support contract, I think it is illegal to upgrade. So you most definitely have to tell your client that you can't do it. And I certainly can't assist.

its for our own company..its inhouse database.
we are NOT upgrading without having purchasing it. we are on testing.
we are still testing the possibilities(options to take for the upgrade).

If there is a documentation on xml that can't be installed on 9i, can you give me a link
because i have googled it and having a hard time.

Thank you all again
