Interesting.

We came in this morning with one of the servers down. After bringing it back up and checking the alert log, the only indicators that something was wrong were the hundreds of ora_01403 and the resulting trace files that were created.

The trc files for the most part indicated 'knpssamsg encountered 1304; end of error statck dumped in slave;' date and time and service name being sys$users.

Not much information on Google.

Has anyone else had ora01403 bring down a database?

Thanks in advance

not me.

ORA-00600/ORA-07445/ORA-03113
did any of the above appear in alert_SID.log file

It would be helpful if you followed Posting Guidelines - http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/88153/0/

Thanks for pointing out the forum posting guidelines.

Only other errors were two ORA-3136 (inbound connection timed out). We are looking at a possible hardware problem since there is nothing in the log indicating that the database came down, only the information that is populated by a startup.

I am not allowed to copy and paste anything from this system to post. Believe me, it would be my first choice to show what I am seeing in the alert log.

Thanks (again) in advance

1304 or 1403?
Server down or database down?
With not being able to post anything more, will you allowed to put in a TAR with Oracle or they will not allow you to do that either?

Or perhaps 1034? As BS implied, 1403 is more likely to be a symptom of a problem, not the cause.
