Hi,
I have Oracle 11gR2 on AIX and my asm diskstrings are /dev/hdisk5, /dev/hdisk6, /dev/hdisk7 and we also have disks /dev/hdisk1 throuh /dev/hdisk4 but I'm not using them. My question is, if the unix admin removes the disks /dev/hdisk1, /dev/hdisk2, /dev/hdisk3 and /dev/hdisk4 he says the remaing device numbers that I'm using for ASM ie /dev/hdisk5, /dev/hdisk6 and /dev/hdisk7 will be changed. Will it create any problem for my database, will the asm instance come up without any issue? Do I need to change the asm_diskstring parameter whenever the unix admin adds/removes any disks?
Thanks
