I dropped a database and trying to recreate a new database. I set the ORACLE_HOME and DISPLAY(export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0) variables. I went to $ORACLE_HOME/bin location and gave ./dbca.. nothing is happening. I see the command prompt in the next line. How do i start the DBCA?

Are you logging from windows?
Did you use an X emulator? cygwin/exceed etc?

This is the expected behaviour.
The assistant run in background, wait a while the window will appear.
In the meantime, check you X environment is correct: are you able to start xclock?

Michel

Do not use dbca to drop a database.
Simply use "rm".
