Hi,

Is there any separate alert.log for ASM instances?

SQL> show parameter BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST

The above will give the dest of the alert.log for DB only? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is is the same for ASM instances? If different, appreciate if anyone could point out where to look for.

An ASM instance writes its own alert log, if you connect to it and show the same parameter you'll see where it is.
