Hi,
I have 9i database running on HP-UX and want to install 11g in a different oracle home and migrade the data from 9i to 11g. Can I use RMAN backup and restore? What are the things that i need to takecare of to migrate to 11g?

My qestion is what is the best way of doing it?
1. install 9i on the new server and restore and recover using RMAN backup or
2. upgrade the existing database to 11g and install new 11g on the new server and use RMAN restore?

Best way depends on your environment, otherwise there would be no other way.
Read the guide and determine by yourself which one is best (against which measure?) for you.
