Shrink tablespace [message #459590]

Hi all

I have a tablespace with 5GB size, data in the tablespace is 4.8GB
if i want to shrink the tablespace then much size could be shrinked.

can anyone let me know plz.

1/ without, check last extent in each file (dba_extents) and you will know how much you can shrink these ones (files)
2/ with, sum the extents in each file (or sum the free space in each file) then you will how much space you can get back after moving the objects (export/import for instance). This is a lower limit has with export/import you compact the space in the objects and so can more likely retrieve more
