Our UNDO space remains at a high level 85 to 95 percent. We keep adding database files and it doesn't seem to go down significantly. When we do a backup of the system where we shut the database down, it does go down some but then within a week or so it is back up again. How can I figure out what is causing this spike? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot other than addiding more datafiles

Plese suggest me

The only problem is the one between your ears.

STOP making changes when you do not understand the consequences.

What is the benefit of having totally unused space in UNDO tablespace?

Oracle can & does REuse UNDO space containing changes after COMMIT

Only be concerned about UNDO after actual error is thrown.

Free space in UNDO is just wasted space. UNDO tablespace be used at 100%.
