when i use sys user connect to oracle instance,and can not connect that(the instance is startup,and the $ORACLE_SID is right).
------
[oracle@ibm]$ sqlplus

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Tue May 25 11:10:12 2010

Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

Enter user-name: connect /as sysdba
Enter password:
Connected to an idle instance.
------
and when i use the follow step,that can connect instance.
------
[oracle@ibm]$ sqlplus system/system@orcl

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Tue May 25 11:11:13 2010

Connected to:

How you sure, the two connection are made in the same instance ?

I am confuse why i must input the password when i use "connect /as sysdba"?sorry for my poor english.
