Dear All,

i Added one datafile for the tablespace parts, data file name /u01/oradata/prod/parts2 (without giving .dbf)

it automatically added to standby database
/u01/oradata/prod/parts2, but all the datafiles are in the folder called
/u01/oradata/stdb/*.dbf

if i want to rename the datafile /u01/oradata/prod/parts2 to /u01/oaradata/prod/parts2.dbf as well need to rename in standby accordingly

please give me procedure.

ALTER DATABASE as an option to rename a file but you have to know that Oracle (RDBMS) does not care of the file name and even does not know what an extension is.

By the way, do NOT use code tags for your question, use it for code or anything that needs to be aligned (like result table).

Michel

The procedure to rename a file with a standby database is described in:
Data Guard Concepts and Administration
Chapter 8 Managing a Physical Standby Database
Section 8.3.4 Renaming a Datafile in the Primary Database
