Hi and thanks for your reply.
Sorry for this question:
should I unpack the cpio into a temporary directory? is this correct?
I tried to run the runinstaller but there is not flag for the client.. I'm so sure I'm making a mistake..
I'm running the runinstaller presnet into the first oracle installation, is it ok?
Thannk so much.

Packaging depends on the Oracle version (10g what?).
Did you download the client part?

Hi,

But If I run runinstaller I can't find the client botton to check.
Thanks so much

I have Oracle server installaed under
/data/Oracle_Inst.

I unpacked the client under /tmp/stage....

Now to let to Oracle load the Client product what steps should I perform?
I mean, and please sorry if I'm a little confused, should I run runInstaller and just unpack the client cpio file under the actula Oracle path?
Thanks so much.

Unpack the cpio in stage area and launch the OUI that is inside it.

Oracle server installation includes ALL! client utilities.
Doing "client" installation on DB server is 100% unnecessary

Hi MIchel,
thanks so much for your reply.. really appreciated.
My administrator leave me alone and now I have to go on...
I unpacket the cpio into the stage directory but I can't find any oui file except the following: OuiConfigVariables.xml.
I tried to run runInstaller but I can't find any way to add the client product right now unpacked.
I checked and no client packets are present.
Please tell me more how to add and load this client package?
Thanks so much

Hi Michel,
here you are the info:

10gr2_client_sol.cpio.gz

SunOS eitrmux112 5.10 Generic_118833-33 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440

What I don't understand is If I unpack the cpio into the stage directory, how can I add the client installation to the global oracle installation?
Thanks

What I don't understand is why you have not OUI in your cpio.

Here youa re:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201sol64soft.html

Here a downloaded the cpio for sparc64Bit.

Nut I wonder, should I run runinstaller a.s.a. I unpack the client package into the existing stage?
I ask this because trying to run the runinstall I don't see any possibility to add the new package (Oracle client: 10gr2_client_sol.cpio.gz).
Thanks again.

When you run the installer it asks you in the second page "Specify Source Location", you have to give the "products.xml" that is in your stage area.
