Hi,

I am using oracle 9i. The database is installed on Unix platform on HP SuperDome m/c.

The default nls_calendar is 'Gregorian'. But we need to do most of the operaration and Data migration from Hijrah Date.

So when ever we r converting the Hijrah Date using TO_DATE(dt,'YYYYMMDD',' NLS_CALENDAR = ''ARABIC HIJRAH'''), the whole operatrion becomes very very slow.

e.g. if I dont convert the date it will take 3 min for populating 4 million record. But when I use the date conversion it takes more that 4 Hours.

Can any one what is worng? How can I imporve the performance....

Badly need help.

Thanx in advance.

Regards,
Swarup
